The Barnesville Trojans advanced to the double elimination round of the Section 8AA Softball playoffs with a 9-2 win over Pelican Rapids on Tuesday, knocking the Vikings out of the tournament. Barnesville jumped to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, added two runs in the third and three in the fourth to take an 8-1 lead and never looked back.
Leaders for the Vikings were Claudia Gurath (1-4, R), Zayla Arrow (1-2, BB, HBP, RBI), Zayli Arrow (1-4), Arianna Villagomez (1-3), Ava Simpson (1-3), Linea Thomas (1-3, R) and Chelsey Blakeway (1-3). Kia Nelson (6IP, 10H, 5K, 7ER) took the loss for the Vikings.
“I would like to thank the girls for a fun season and especially our two seniors, Sylvia Pesch and Kia Nelson,” stated Pelican Rapids Head Coach Derrick Nelson. “These two have been great leaders the last two seasons. Both of them will be very successful in the future and we wish them the best of luck.”
