Vikings and Hornets Split Softball Double Header

Pelican Rapids and Frazee split a pair of Heart O’ Lakes Conference softball games on Friday with the Hornets taking game one by the score of 9-4, and the Vikings winning the nightcap, 10-5.  “Frazee hit the ball very well and found the openings in the first game,” noted Pelican Rapids Head Coach Derrick Nelson.  “Zayla Arrow pitched her best game of the season and we had some key hits to pull out the victory in game two.”

Hitting leaders for the Vikings in the first game were Sylvia Pesch (2-3, R, BB), Claudia Gurath (2-3, R, BB), Zayla Arrow (1-2, 2BB), Ariana Villagomez (1-3, R, BB) and Addison Walters (1-4, R).  Kia Nelson (6IP, 13H, 1BB, 2K, 8ER) took the loss in the circle.

Second game leaders were Zayla Arrow (7IP, 3K, 6H, 4ER, 2-4, RBI), Pesch (2-3, 3R, 2BB, RBI), Nelson (2-3, 2R, 2BB), Gurath (3-4, R, 3RBI), Zayli Arrow (1-4, R, RBI), Villagomez (1-2, BB, HBP), Linea Thomas (1-3, R, BB) and Chelsey Blakeway (0-2, R, 2BB).

No Frazee stats were received.

Softball playoffs begin on Tuesday at a location to be determined this weekend.
