Pelican Rapids shot 46.8% from the field and won the rebounding battle 36-32 on Tuesday night as the lady Vikings opened their season with a 54-49 road win over the Menahga Braves. Pelican Rapids led 26-21 at the half and the Vikings maintained that lead over the final 18 minutes of play.
The Vikings were led by 12 points each from Kelsey Isaman and Morgan Korf. They were joined in double digits by Hazel Haugrud with 11 points. Isaman completed a double-double by snaring 10 rebounds. Korf grabbed 6 boards, dished out 5 assists and came up with 3 steals. Haugrud added 6 rebounds, 3 assists and a pair of steals, Anna Roisum finished with 8 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists, and Ellie Welch chipped in with 9 points.
Pelican Rapids will open their home season with a Heart O’ Lakes Conference matchup against the Frazee Hornets on Friday night.
