Johnson Scores 4 TD's to Lead Vikings Past Frazee

The Pelican Rapids Vikings compiled 430 yards of offense on Friday night as they won their home opener 44-14 over the Frazee Hornets, improving their season record to 2-0.  Timmy Guler led the offense, completing 9-of-10 passes for 267 yards and 3 touchdowns, and carrying the ball 3 times for 49 yards and a TD.

Guler started the scoring with a 16 yard run in the first quarter, setup by a 45 yard pass from Guler to Peyton BlakewayCarter Johnson ran in the two-point conversion to give the Vikings an 8-0 lead.

The Vikings scored 24 second quarter points with Johnson hauling in a 27 yard scoring toss from Guler on the first play of the quarter, then catching a 71 yard pass for his second touchdown, and running the ball in from a yard out for his third TD of the quarter.  The quarter ended with a 45 yard touchdown strike from Guler to Blakeway and a 32-0 Pelican Rapids lead at the half.

Johnson recorded TD number four on a 12 yard run in the third quarter for a 38-0 lead after three.  He finished with 32 rushing yards on 5 carries and caught two passes for 98 yards.

Frazee notched a pair of fourth quarter scores on a pass from Carter Sonnenberg to Kale Ovsak and a recovery of a bad snap in a punting situation in the end zone.  Mark Kapenga recorded the final Pelican Rapids score on his only carry of the game, going 75 yards to put the final score at 44-14.

Blakeway caught 3 passes for 112 yards and Carson McNeal had four receptions for 57 yards.  Blakeway and Jack Paulson each had an interception.  Tristan Landberg led the Vikings with 9.5 tackles, including a sack.

Frazee was led by Taylor Moe with 42 rushing yards on 15 carries.  Dylan Selly ran for 27 yards on 8 attempts before leaving the game with an injury.  Frazee had 128 total yards.
