Canes Take Down Lakers in Double Header Sweep

The Fergus Falls Hurricanes were able to record a pair of wins on Saturday in Pelican Rapids, beating the Lakers 13-3 and 8-3 to improve their overall record to 11-4 and their Countryside League mark to 8-0.

The first game was decided by the ten-run rule after six innings with Eric Salveson (5IP, 9K, 4BB, 3H, 3ER) getting the win.  Hitting leaders were Tosten Mann (3-5, 2R), Mitch Porter (3-5, 2R, 2RBI), Jack Hiedeman (2-5, 2R, RBI), Carter Thielke (3-4, 2R, RBI), Thomas Bosek (1-1, R, 3BB) and Salveson (3-4, 2B, HR, 2R, 5RBI).

The Canes led 6-3 after five innings and built their lead to ten runs by scoring seven times in the top of the sixth.  Fergus Falls had 16 hits in the game and also capitalized on four Pelican Rapids errors.  Adam Johnson hit a solo home run for the Lakers.

Bosek (5IP, 8K, 1BB, 3H, 3R, 0ER) was the winning pitcher in the second game, going to 3-0 on the season.  Bosek (3-5, 2B, R), Mann (3-5, R, 2B, 3B, 2RBI) and Thielke (2-3, 2B, 3B, R, RBI) led the offensive attack for the Canes.  Adam Johnson launched a 2-run homer in the third inning for Pelican Rapids.

Fergus Falls will play at Ada on Friday at 7:30pm and will host the Vergas Loons in a game on Sunday at 5:00pm at American Legion Field at DeLagoon Park.
